Tirana restaurants & cafes

Tirana is Albania’s culinary capital: from traditional taverns and byrek bakeries to signature restaurants and wine bars. We’ve gathered vetted places by district and occasion.

In Tirana people eat everywhere and in all sorts of ways. Around the New Bazaar (Pazari i Ri) — traditional taverns and grills; in the Blloku district — coffee shops, breakfasts, and modern bistros; on the central squares — wine bars and signature restaurants. Prices rise toward the center and the tourist streets, and they’re noticeably cheaper in simple local canteens.

Below are our vetted places: Albanian classics, signature cuisine, wine, vegetarian, and coffee. What exactly to order — byrek, tavë kosi, fërgesë, grilled meats, local wine and raki — is in the guide to the cuisine. We verify each venue and note the check date.

This section is being filled in: vetted places with honest descriptions and a check date will appear here soon.
